Firstly, we visited a place Lindsay had been dying to see for months - the area, where the Danube river dissappears completely into the ground on around 150 days of the year. Unfortunately we chose one of the remaining 215 days, but we spotted a few places, where the water was being whirled into the ground. And we managed to cross the giant Danube river on foot - with Yana!

Secondly, we went for a 3 hour tramp through the Lotenbach and Wutach gorges. The landscape was beautiful and the track was great. The only problems were (1) too many people on the track, causing a long row of people walking in a single file in some places; (2) too many people in the restaurant midway, causing us to wait for over an hour and never actually get our food; and (3) feeling really hungry and exhausted because we didn't get the food we had relied on in the restaurant.

Thirdly, we went to the city of Donaueschingen, where the Danube river (German: Donau) claims to have its source. Because the river is formed from two smaller rivers joining, however, the true source could also be somewhere else... And there is a bit of a rivalry going on between Donaueschingen and another city over who owns the true source of the Danube. We visited the source of the Danube, the Donau Tempel, went for a nice walk through the park, ate an ice cream and walked back through the city centre.

Fourthly, we visited the city Lindau, which is located on an island in lake Constance (German: Bodensee). We had been there before, which made Kerstin not want to go at first. But then she had to admit that it was a great idea to spend a nice sunny day in this pretty city.
